Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood

 Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood Poster

To be able to gain something, one must sacrifice something of equal value—The Law of Equivalent Exchange, the basic principle of alchemy.

This has been one long overdue show for me—six and a half years to be exact. Fortunately, all the waiting and excitement to finally watch it was worth it.

I think that Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is one of the greatest series I have ever seen. The plot is clear and solid: two brothers gifted in alchemy attempt to bring their beloved mother back to life [which is prohibited and considered a taboo in alchemy] results in failure and lost a great deal in doing so—Ed lost his leg and arm, while Al lost his body. And so, they are on a quest to get back what they lost. Along the way, they experience some more of hell and discover the dark secrets behind their country’s alchemy and purpose.

I am not really good in summaries so I do not know if I am giving the anime justice. But truly, this is one amazing and epic show. It deals with family issues and conflicts, friendship, quest for truth, sacrifice, friendship, loyalty and unity. There is not a single dull moment. The thrill and level of tension and excitement is maintained from beginning to end. It totally got me hooked and quite nervous with whether or not a character would die, and boy, how I get all teary-eyed when some characters kicked the bucket.

You’ll be surprised at how the action-pack-ness of it does not get boring or typical and how a revelation hits you in almost every episode. It’s like you think you know it all and how it’s gonna be then surprise, surprise~ something you did not really foresee comes along. What’s more remarkable is that there was balance between the intensity of the story and comedy. Plus, all characters are great in their own ways. I love the fact that I did not get irritated to the point of no return in any of the characters. The ending is brilliant and heart-warming. I dunno if it’s quite a stereotype for some, but I loved it. <3

Hiromu Arakawa is genius~ and I also absolutely adore how the anime does not seem like it is being stretched and prolonged. This is something I’d definitely watch again. ^^
