Crazy Katsu

Most of my friends and I are into Japanese Food, and so, when I discovered that there’s a Japanese restaurant around the city, we just had to see and try it.

We went just this Sunday, September 9. And it’s quite funny how we all do not know where Crazy Katsu is exactly located and the fact that houses around the area have two different numbers is no help at all. But no biggie. After all, that day was declared as “FOOD TRIP ADVENTURE DAY” and so, walking back and forth just to find the place is not something to make fuss about.

When we finally found the place, lo and behold, it was closed. We worried for a second or two. Fortunately, someone from inside the restaurant saw us and told us that they open at eleven o’clock, we were ten minutes early. Since they weren’t done with cleaning, we just decided to stay outside. Our friend, Anika, wasn’t there yet and it’ll also be her first time to go to the place so we decided it’d be better if she sees us outright, there under the hot sun. We also took some pictures while waiting.

 Dawn and Angelica

Anyways, Anika was taking so long and it was really hot outside that we decided to already go inside. Their AC was broken so it was also quite warm inside. But at least, the people are nice and accommodating. They opened the glass door [as seen on Dawn and Angelica’s picture] so the air would go in.

The interior:

The menu:

What we ordered:
TONKATSU – we all liked it. It smells good and tastes good, too. It’s crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The sauce goes well with it. Yum, yum~

GYOZA – tastes pretty much the same with Mr. Kurosawa’s gyoza. The boat-shaped plate looks cute, right?

CURRY RICE – I think it looks better in real life. Contains only a few meat, has more carrots and potatoes. Tender and delicious.

PUDDING – the only dessert on the menu. Available in two flavours: caramel and coffee. Or was it mocha? Anyways, we went for the caramel. We didn’t enjoy it that much. It looks like leche flan so we expected it to taste like leche flan. It’s not that sweet and it is full of air.  But it’s not there specialty anyway. So I guess, it’s okay.

By the time Anika arrived, we’re done with eating. We insisted she eat, while we wait for her to finish. She ordered Fish and Vegetable Tempura.

We’ve agreed that the tonkatsu tastes the best. I guess the “katsus” really are there specialties. We’ll go back to try the other foods in the menu.
